Yes, Melissa knew that Dad was coming, but when Celeste came through the door first, Mel was in complete astonishment. This is Jim writing for Mel's blog in beautiful and wonderful China. I just want to concur with Melissa's blogs that the children are amazing, the facility is incredible as they create an atmosphere that is full of Joy, and the hospitality is simply amazing. After a miraculous trip here, we spent Thursday and Friday seeing Melissa teach and playing with the children. It was great to meet Tim, Clay and Jewel, Sara, Tess, Bethany and the rest of the crew. On Saturday we went to the Great Wall and took in the beauty of the country. Characteristic of Mel's trips, the car broke down, but no problem, Melissa with her incredible language skills, was able to understand our driver and find out that he was able to get another taxi to the Wall while he fixed his car. Being on the Wall really show the incredible tenacity of the people to build a wall, 6000 miles long, just to delay imposing troops. Sunday we went to a church in Beijing and heard an incredible message on John 14:1-4. Afterward, with guide Sara, we went to the Summer Palace, as well as many thousands of others. The palace was built for the emperor, his guests and servants on a lake that looked as big as downtown Beaverton, ok, not that big, but for so few people, it was huge and probably a lot quieter back then. We will finish our trip with a couple of days back with the children. Some thoughts about G: He has made nations to worship Him, He is working here, and because of who He is, the Light is shining brightly. Definitely a life changing trip for Celeste and I and for a daughter whose heart is linked to the people here. Really, our hearts have been moved too. Blessings!
